Welcome back Wine Crush Podcast supporters! Episode 4, of Season 4 is out now! Featuring 4031 Wines & Torii Mor Winery from the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
This episode offers a bit of a contrast in a sense that one winery has deep roots with winemaking, and the other is relatively new and fell into it. It’s an interesting perspective, and we hope you enjoy listening to their stories. Wine Crush Podcast strives to feature wineries of all sizes, we believe all stories are unique and deserve to be told, over a glass of wine that is!

Bill and Shari Price – Winegrowers/Owners
Bill grew up in Eastern Oregon and Shari in Wichita, Kansas, they eventually met in Portland and married in Houston, Texas, where their adventure began. Ten Peaks Vineyard is where their land is, but after learning they were unable to use that name for their wine, they turned to a brainstorming session to name it something else.
That’s where 4031 Wines came in! It tells the story of our giant leap of faith in buying 55 acres, of which included 7.5 acres of Pinot Noir grapes planted in 2009, just 8 miles from McMinnville.
They weren’t looking to buy that much land, not even looking to buy a vineyard or anything in McMinnville, Oregon. But the universe had different plans for them.
40:31 Wines refers to Isaiah 40:31, a long-time favorite bible verse. It’s a beautiful poem about Trust, no matter what – trust and you will find strength. The actual verse goes like thi:
"For those who trust in the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall soar high on wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31"
Don Olson – Owner

Torii Mor Winery started with a vision: the pursuit of elegant, Old World style Pinot Noir. Dr. Donald Olson moved to Oregon to pursue this vision and purchased an older vineyard in the Willamette Valley, planted in 1972, and renamed it Olson Estate Vineyard. High in the Dundee Hills, the ten acres of old vines produce high-quality Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay year after year.
They have two tasting rooms: One in Dundee, Oregon, and the other in Woodinville, Washington.
After the first vintage in 1993 with just 1,000 cases, Torii Mor today produces 10,000 cases annually under the direction of Burgundian winemaker Jacques Tardy.
At Torii Mor, our winemakers work in harmony with nature. It is a process that begins with the purest of waters from our artesian well, passing into the grapes of our vines, and through our methods, becoming wines of elegance and intention.
The Japanese torii gate symbolizes a passage and transition into the sacred. With every sip of our wines, our intent is that you too may experience a transition: From energy into balance, and the harmony within.
LIVE Certified + Leed Gold Certification. Proud to be a part of the innovations made in the state of Oregon in environmental stewardship. In 2007, they built their gravity flow winery on Olson Estate Vineyard, complete with solar panels on their south facing roof. Their commitment to sustainability has awarded them these two special achievements.
